12 Snacks for Kids That Are Easy to Make


Here are some easy snacks you can prepare that are healthier than reaching for the nearest junk food.

1. Cucumber Flowers

Slice a cucumber into circles and then in a halves. Slice a carrot into circles also, and create 3 petals on top of each using a small knife. Slice some cheese into cubes. Add each one to a toothpick, cheese first, then the cucumber and finally the carrot on top.

2. Peanut Butter Wheels

Blend a cup of chunky peanut butter with a cup of sugar and an egg. Form into little patties and bake 10 minutes at 400 degrees. Decorate using chocolate if desired.

3. Sunny Smoothie

Blend the following:
Half a cup OJ
Half a cup of chopped carrot
Half a cup pineapple (frozen)
One cup vanilla yogurt (nonfat)
One tbsp of honey

Drink up!

4. Chocolate Dipped Banana

Peel open a banana, place it on plate, smother ¾ of it with melted dark chocolate, then embellish with chocolate almonds, chips, or raisins…

5. Peanut Butter Pizzas

Coat a tortilla with olive oil on both sides, then slice into 4-6 pieces. Bake at 350 degrees until crisp, a maximum of 10 minutes. Wait to cool, then add a thin layer of peanut butter. Slice banana, strawberry (or any fruit) and cover the tortillas.

6. Homemade Chips

Cut potatoes very thinly, drizzle with salted water, place on a baking paper and cover with another piece of paper. Place in oven on broil until crisp. Sprinkle on salt afterward.

7. Purple Popsicle

Blend the following:
One fourth cup blueberries
One fourth cup strawberries
One fourth cup raspberries
Half cup vanilla yogurt
Half cup ice

Freeze everything in popsicle molds and eat!

8. Strawberry Lemonade

Boil 2 cups water and one cup sugar and stir until sugar dissolves.
Add a tablespoon of grated lemon peel and a cup of lemon juice, stir and allow to cool.
Add one pint of mashed strawberries, stir thoroughly and refrigerate.
Add two cups of sparkling water, stir thoroughly and serve with ice.

9. Salty Kabobs

Slice cheese into cubes.
Alternate olives and cheese.
When kabobs are ready, eat them with or without dip or sauce.

10. Fruity Bites

Spread half a teaspoon of yogurt on a graham cracker and top with berries, chocolate chips, raisins or crushed hazelnuts.

11. Popcorn

Place curry powder, melted cheese, or chocolate on popcorn for variety
